| The Opportunity Quilt for this year was designed by Carol Culbert. It is actually a remake of the quilt from a previous year except it was modified to be larger. The center of the quilt was pieced by Pat Blair and the border appliqué was done by Nancy Mastroianni, Hilary Fields, Lorraine Voorhees, and Juanita Swarts. The border was actually completed and the corners mitered before being sewn onto the center section of the quilt. The center section was then hand appliquéd in a scalloped pattern to the borders. It was then completed and quilted by Phyllis Reddish. Verna Wheeler then completed it by sewing the binding on. It was a labor of love by all. I believe the title of the quilt is Baskets & Blooms. We are asking for a donation of $1 per ticket or 6 for $5. It will be making the rounds of the guilds where tickets can be purchased. The drawing will be held at our Quilt show "Quilts on the Ranch" on Saturday, September 8th, at the George Key Ranch in Placentia, CA. | |||||
